League, Cup & Metro Cup Details

Premier League:

Originally we were supposed to play 8 rounds in the Premier League. However, this has been reduced to 5 rounds as Lansdowne and Coolmine have withdrawn from the league. This leaves 4 teams, and all four teams will now go straight to the semi-finals. Clontarf A V Skerries and Greystones A V MU Barnhall. The finals are scheduled for Sunday 29th April in Donnybrook.

Div 2 League:

After 8 rounds have been played, the Top 4 teams qualify for Division 2 League semi-finals. Originally, the next 4 were intended to qualify for Div 2 Shield semi-finals but Leinster Branch have decided that they are unlikely to play league shield competitions in any of the divisions because of the delays in the schedule due to the bad weather.

Cup/Plate:

Teams defeated in the Preliminary Round and Round 1 of the Cup will qualify for the Plate Competition. The Cup & Plate semi-finals are on 15th April and the Cup & Plate finals are on 6th May (Donnybrook).

Metro Invitational Cup:

This is an additional Cup competition at U14 level. The Metro Cup schedule has been delayed as the Leinster League, Cup and Plate competitions take priority. The Metro Cup final is scheduled for 29th April (Location TBC) but this date will definitely move if Clontarf A get to the final as it clashes with the Premier League Finals.

Training

Every Wednesday form 6pm to 7.15pm on the club All Weather Pitch & Sundays from 11.15am to 12.30 in Mount Temple. All Training is Subject to Matches.

Safe Rugby:

We strongly encourage all coaches, players and parents to have a better understanding of concussion.  Concussion can pose a significant risk to the well being of players if not managed effectively.  Please use the following link  to the IRFU website  www.irishrugby.ie/concussion and fimilarise yourself with the signs, symptoms and management of concussion.  I would ask that you share Junior Player video with your child to ensure that they too understand concussion.

 Code of Ethics:
Parents please read, discuss with your child & abide by the clubs code of ethics – See this link https://www.clontarfrugby.com/youth-mini-rugby/code-of-ethics/

Please get involved. Positive encouragement for all the children is vital, most players want to impress their parents, so please try to impress the children. Never be negative.

NOTE: If any parent/guardian has an issue or observation regarding their child please bring notice immediately to a coach.
