Youth and Mini

Welcome to Clontarf Youth & Mini Rugby

The Youth & Mini Rugby has developed in Clontarf since 1986 and has continued to grow every year since. In the last season, over 500 boys and girls were registered with the club. Our aim is to:

To teach our young players to love playing rugby. We will achieve this by offering a fun way to learn the game in an encouraging, respectful and friendly environment. As the players grow older we will continue their rugby development in order to support them in reaching their highest potential as they forge stronger links with the club. Clontarf FC is committed to making sure all players are developed on equal terms.

In more recent years the club has organized more resources to focus on the quality of rugby offered to young children. The Mini Section (Under 7* to Under 12) starts with children who are 5 upwards. Here we concentrate on the enjoyment, welfare and skill development of players from .  Youth rugby begins in Clontarf at Under 13 level and in the 2017/18 season we will be fielding teams at U13, U14 & U15, U16, U17 and U18 levels.

We are also re-launching Girls Rugby –  a pilot programme of Tag Rugby for the Mini Girls (Aged 6-12) with rugby skills. It will non contact rugby for the minis. Youth Girls rugby (aged 12-17) is going through a change with teams under 14, 16 & 18 this year.

Training takes place on Sunday mornings in the club or several other locations – please check each individual team page for more details.
