Matching player ambitions and club needs

Our aim at U20s is to provide a challenging and rewarding rugby programme for A and B teams – a squad of more than 50 players. We see this as a stepping stone to senior or junior level, and not an end in itself. The relationship with the Firsts is a close one, and the more players we feed through to them the better. Those who don’t progress to that level will filter into junior teams. Either way, the aspiration is that everyone – whether you have come up through our mini/youth system, or are new to Castle Avenue – continues to play the game for years to come, and enjoys being part of what is a great club.

The season 2018/19 was uniquely successful for our U20s on the field, across As and Bs, while off it many of the players helped with the Clontarf Bulls – the club’s team for young players with additional needs – as well as running an end-of-season Tag tournament for Pieta House, which raised close to €10k.

If you are interested in being a part of this group please contact any of the managers on this page. This season gym work starts on 22 July at 7pm in KoCoon Fitness on East Wall Road. Pitch sessions will start on 1 August in Castle Avenue and continue every Tuesday and Thursday thereafter. New team members are very welcome, so please see contact details above.
