At a recent awards presentation evening held in the clubhouse, Club President, John Glackin, congratulated all the award winners. He said that although Rugby is first and foremost a team game, it is valid to recognise exceptional examples of individual skill, commitment and effort and that was what was being done by these awards.
He added that the 2010-2011 season was very successful for Tarf teams from u12s up to the senior team even though we did not ultimately win the AIL and that all these teams had given great pleasure to the members who had watched and supported them from the sidelines during the season.
The President told the members that he had passed on, on their behalf as well as his own, the clubs’ best wishes for a successful and injury free tournament to Club members Cian Healy, Seanie O Brien and Mike Ross who were with the Irish squad for the World Cup in New Zealand.
He then asked the Senior Vice President, Terry Browne, to announce the award winners and Jim Barden, last season’s President, to make the presentations.
The award winners were:
Healy Shield: Outstanding Play and Clubmanship: Barry O’Mahony

Dougie Heyood Award: Exceptional Play/Commitment: Joey Redmond

Hugh Milroy Award: Junior Player of the Year: Paddy Ball

Ricky Sheey Shield: Most Successful Team: U 19’s
