Clontarf 37 Young Munster 29

Clontarf thundered into the UBL final on Saturday with a performance to warm the hearts of their supporters.

Playing on the 3G surface Clontarf and Young Munster held nothing back in a game that delivered 10 tries in all. It was a superb mano a mano affair with each side digging deep into their lockers in an effort to leave nothing behind. Mick McGrath opened the scoring after 2 minutes with a burst through a ruck w2hich gave him a free run under the posts. 3 minutes later Young Munster out half Alan Tynan got in after a mazy run through the Clontarf defence to tie the scores. He then followed up with a beauty in the corner as Tarf failed to deal with a high kick.

Tarf responded with a try to Capt Ben Reilly after a storming run from Tony Ryan. In the third quarter Clontarf suddenly hit the high gears and scored three tries right out of the top drawer. When Mark Sutton got in on the right with an athletic dive for the sixth the task for the visitors became too much. Despite a late rally which yielded a penalty try they were held at bay with the help of a powerful display from the Clontarf bench with included Bryan Byrne, Ivan Soroka, Eoin Browne, and Rob McGrath.
