Tarf Under 6s Blitz Opposition
10/03/2006
Thirty nine teams, four hundred and forty four players, all under 7!!
Can you imagine the chaos? Not so in DLSP on the 29th January, a beautiful sunny Sunday in the mountains. This was the second annual DLSP Kieran Burke Under 7 Blitz.
Clontarf entered two under seven teams and one under six squad; a total of 39 players, who were coached/minded by Conor O'Mahony, Joe Goode, Kevin Kyne, Peter Duggan, Eamonn O'Kelly and Andy Semple.
The Under 7s played Coolmine, Malahide, Terenure, Bective, Lansdowne and St. Mary's. While playing with typical 'Tarf spirit and demonstrating some inventive running lines and ball skills, they failed to reach the finals.
The Under 6s went all the way to the final, dispatching St. Mary's, Bective, Old Wesley and Navan on the way. In a close fough final 'Tarf beat DLSP by 3-1. This was classic rugby played with much enthusiasm and more than a little skill!
Many thanks to all the parents for their support and to DLSP for hosting a fine tournament.
As an aside, readers might be interested in just one of the rules for this tournament, which encompasses the ethos of mini rugby.
No team to be beaten by more than four tries.
