CLONTARF OUT OF AIB CUP! 13/02/2006 Clontarf 14 Garryowen 15 A bad day at the home office as Clontarf slipped out of the AIB Cup at Castle Aveon Saturday. Having lost to Clontarf two weeks ago Garryowen had something to prove and were by far the more intense side from the off. They suffered badly in Limerick by allowing the ‘Tarf halfbacks space to dictate the game so in Castle Ave they employed a fast up, pressure defense which the home side took some time to overcome. By then ‘Tarf were 12 points down to a super try from number 13 O’Boyle, converted by Kilroy followed by another 5 points after a close drive from flanker Paul Neville. Just on half time OutHalf O’Brien found his namesake with a beautifully weighted cross kick which the wing fielded expertly to score untouched under the posts. Full back O’Shea converted for 7 12 at half time. Garryowen will have restored some of their pride recently dented in the AIL encounter and will be more than aware that as things stand in the league these two sides could meet again when the big stuff is at stake. P.S. A good win for the J1’s in Tullamore and a opportunity to lose O’Sugercane in the bog!!............ Hopefully? | ||||
