BARNHALL BATTERED BY BOISTEROUS BULLS Author: David O'Siochain 2005-12-16 Barnhall relinquished home advantage to try to topple the table toppers on their home patch on Thursday night, but the J1's have yet to lose at Castle Ave this season and were determined to maintain their 100% home record. Tarf started well spreading the ball across the park releasing Magnus Coetzer who cantered in from 50 yards to score the first try of the evening. Barnhall responded immediately breaking through the centre to score under the posts. The J1's reclaimed the lead with a swift catch and drive, Daragh Ffrench touching down. Coetzer popped up out wide again to grab his second and Paul Mullen broke through the midfield and put Peter Woods over in the corner. Again Barnhall fought back scoring an intercept try and exploiting a porous midfield defence to touch down once again before halftime. In the second half, the J1's battled hard into a stiff wind and eeked out the rewards. Mullen scored a sensation individual try following a 60 yard break and the Tarf pack forced a try after pushing the Barnhall scrum off the ball allowing Mark Woods to score in the corner. Final Score: TARF 48 BARNHALL 30 PS - In reply to P Walsh's delirious rant, he may be taking things a little too seriously - as there were "serious hits", "serious pressure" and "serious impact" in last weekends match report. Hopefully Santa will bring Peter a Thesaurus this Christmas. | ||||
